The Artist - Marcus
Mystery House Music is the label and Friendly Fire is the first Album. Marcus is an artist that writes songs about life, love and the world. Marcus got involved in music at an early age. At the age of six, music was first defined for Marcus by the accordion. By the age of twelve Marcus moved over to the guitar and began to sing and write songs. Marc“Marcus” Dupuis was born in the glorious city of Sudbury. Once the nickel capital of the world and home of the world’s tallest chimney (taller than the Empire State building!) It didn’t take very long for Marcus to realize that the world was calling and the explorations of both the geographical and spiritual world started at a young age.

On his life path there have been many changes, from performer to world traveler, to corporate businessman,…back to performer,… the story keeps unfolding. Marcus has always been very committed to the projects that he undertakes. He has always given all his energy to ‘the project’. The more recent projects have been in the business environment; doing what is expected in a world focused on making money. Being led on by corporate mandates and controlled by government logic and the power of taxation. “Not enough sharing of the wealth going on,… you think they’d spread it around.” So he went back to music school and pursued his love of musical expression.
Friendly Fire and the Mystery House Music project is of the times.

“There always was the rebel inside of me. I just didn’t want to rebel for the sake of rebelling. I have more clarity now. The writing has helped define my position. I’ve noticed that many of my older songs were clearer than I had given them (or myself) credit for and I’ve learned a lot from that. It is time to share the songs.”

Throughout all the changes the common thread has always been his music. Marcus has been a
Singer/Songwriter for over 20 years and his lyrics tell the stories that make us laugh, cry and
wonder why. From his relaxed finger picking style to his thumping acoustic guitar beats, the songs are about wonder and optimism, about the great and the beautiful, about life, love and the world.
Marcus has been performing since he was a young jub; starting with accordion performances for
the relatives to playing the accordion and guitar in the church choir as a young teenager to
playing cafés around the world and the Berklee music program. He has performed many stages
throughout the world since. The last couple of years were spent in Europe where he found
inspiration for his latest songs.
